Skills is a collection of games that help you to focus on the here and now. The games are mindfulness and distress tolerance skills that can be used anywhere. Skills is developed together with psychologists according to “analogue” skills successfully used in therapy.
Skills can be used by anyone having to cope with stress. The app can also be used to assist self-management during psychotherapy.
When undergoing treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder, PTSD, or Borderline Personality Disorder, BPD, the application of skills are sometimes advised by your therapist. Skills are exercises to help you to refocus on the here and now. These exercises can improve your therapy experience, especially when using dialectical behaviour therapy or DBT.
There is an indication of the acceptance of the Skills app provided by BPD/PTSD patient feedback. By using the Skills app you have to determine together with your therapist whether the anti-dissociation skills / stress tolerance skills work for you or not.
